“The 12-song album was recorded in Toronto and Big Sur, with Feist collaborating with frequent partners in crime Chilly Gonzales and Mocky, as well as producer Valgeir Sigurðsson” (Pitchfork). I also co-wrote 3 songs on the album (Bitterweet Melodies, Graveyard, Caught A Long Wind) and I’m very proud of the results. Stay tuned to everything regarding this album here!

Recording the score for UFO in her eyesI finally finished the soundtrack for ” UFO in her Eyes”: a film by the chinese director Xiaolu Guo. Filmed in China this is a movie about a woman who sees a UFO: and much more. The pic shows me finetuning the arrangments with lead violist Marla Hansen (pic by Milosh).

Here’s a pic of me and Lucky Paul recording with the  30 piece “Choir of the House of the Cultures of the World” in Berlin ….

Recently I had the pleasure of co-producing the new record by Fransisca Valenzuela  in Chile  :  check out the single and some studio footage now  HERE … oh and she´s been handpicked by Shakira as the support act for her american tour !

Mockumentay Part 2The Mockumentary Part II is finally here!!

This time the beautiful psycho-musicologist Pheline Roggan (you might recognize her from Fatih Akin’s fantastic new movie “Soul Kitchen”) is searching for explanations as to how Mocky is able to exist in so many musical universes … from collaborating with GZA & Alejandro Jodorowsky to joining Riverdance .. it’s all in HERE! If you have missed the – according to Pitchfork – Grammy winning Mockumentary Part I, you can still go HERE.

The first official Mocky merchandise since the still visionary “Will Smith For President” shirts way back from 2001. Realized by the great japanese company PUBLIK. You can get the mysterious Saskamodie artwork by Gero Loferer and Ninja Pleasure on T-Shirt and tote bag here:

“Mocky dwells in his own musical universe, swathed in an air of mystery, and his unique vibe has charmed many a critic, fellow musician, and discerning fan. His is a land of soul minimalism, his sparse, leisurely compositions drawing upon funk, Afro-beat, free jazz, classical, and whatever else might curry his flitting (but not fleeting) fancy. While dealing mostly in instrumentals, when Mocky injects words into the mix, he does so with a Nick Drake-esque feather touch, in both his vocals and his lyrics. (…) Saskamodie, released by Crammed Discs in 2009, proved to be somewhat of a breakthrough record for Mocky, earning universally positive reviews, including raves from Pitchfork and the BBC.”
(All Music Guide)

“If Saskamodie was a film, it would undoubtedly be The Science of Sleep by Michel Gondry.  Please take that as a wholehearted endorsement”

“An exceptionally musical album – there’s no other word for it – that could fail to seduce only the hardest of hearing, or the hardest of hearts”
(Pitchfork, 8.0 review)

“An amazing record…a big hit for me”
(Gilles Peterson)

“A revelatory gem of post-war sensibility…an evocative unit”
(Plan B)
